AREA ACTIVITIES AND ADVENTURES
A significant amount
of that revenue was generated in the Sea-to-Sky corridor,
largely attracted to Vancouver and Whistler.
Second only to
beach and sun, mountains, lakes, river valleys and breathtaking
alpine vistas with their host of associated tourist activities
are proving increasingly popular in today's market.
This is
particularly so, given the modern trend away from purely passive
vacations and towards greater activity, recreational or
adventure-based vacations. The concept of combining a vacation
with some other lifestyle event such as an anniversary, wedding
or family reunion is also becoming more in vogue.
With the large
number of attractions within a relatively short car journey from
Drumkeeran House, it can easily act as the ideal base to explore
a vast region of British Columbia. Its relative proximity to
Whistler and to the Lower Mainland offers international
travelers in particular the opportunity to sample the varied
attraction of the Province with relative ease.
Summer activities
include golf, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing, bike riding,
horse riding, glacier flights, gliding, canoeing, kayaking,
white water rafting, and swimming.
Winter activities
include cross-country and downhill ski-ing and boarding
(Whistler), heli-skiing, snow mobiling, ice climbing and snow
shoeing.
As a special winter
wonderland bonus, there are usually several weeks where Ivey
Lake itself is frozen so as to allow for a range of activities
on the ice right at Drumkeeran House.
Fly Fishing Groups
The lakeside
setting gives guests the opportunity to take advantage of the
fact that Ivey Lake is the only trophy fly-fishing lake in the
Lower Mainland area of British Columbia. In addition, Drumkeeran
House provides ideal quarters from which to set out and fish
literally dozens of nearby rivers and lakes. It is expected that
such visitors may well employ the services of local fish guides
and outfitters
Drumkeeran House
dovetails very closely with these requirements.
In addition,
because of its proximity to Vancouver, Drumkeeran House is a popular venue for foreign tourists to Vancouver
who wish to take a short two or three day fly-fishing excursion
in liaison with Lower Mainland tour operators and guides.
Drumkeeran House is the ideal venue for introducing
novices to the sport through two or three day lessons or
seminars. |
