Drumkeeran House

Activities

A canoe and kayaks at the dock, catch-and-release trout on the lake from April to November, and Whistler Blackcomb about 45 minutes away.

The dock's swim ladder over Ivey Lake, with the autumn forest and Mount Currie across the water.

At the house

Start with the lake.

Swim off the dock, take the canoe or the kayaks out, or fish for trout. When the day is done there is the hot tub, the billiard room and the fire.

  • A canoe and kayaks are at the dock.

  • Trout fishing on the lake is catch and release, from April to November.

  • Bring your own fishing rods and snowshoes.

Through the year

Not only summer and winter.

Spring and fall are the quieter, more private side of Drumkeeran, and some of the most beautiful times on the lake and in the mountains.

  1. Open water on Ivey Lake below snow-covered Mount Currie in spring, with a swim float near the shore.

    Spring

Spring brings the landscape back to life. Snow still covers the high mountains while the valley turns green and the days get longer: a beautiful time for hiking, exploring the valley and the lake, and gathering around the fire after a day outside. Trout season opens on April 1.

  2. Two people in chairs on the dock in summer sun, seen through alder leaves, with the lake and forested hills beyond.

    Summer

Long days on the water: swimming off the dock, the canoe and the kayaks, and the hot tub in the evening. Further out, trails, rivers and alpine lakes, mountain biking, horseback riding and golf.

  3. Mount Currie and the autumn forest mirrored in the still water of Ivey Lake.

    Fall

Fall is especially magical at Drumkeeran. The forests turn golden, the mountains turn crisp and dramatic, and the lake takes on a different feeling: the season for hiking, fishing, local farms and food, or slowing down at the lodge with a fire, a glass of wine and the people you came with.

  4. Mount Currie in pink first light above the frozen, snow-covered lake, seen from the snowy dock.

    Winter

Whistler Blackcomb is about 45 minutes away for skiing and snowboarding, and the valley has snowshoeing, snowmobiling and backcountry days. Then the fire in the Great Hall, and the hot tub in the snow.

In spring and fall the house feels most like a private retreat, with the whole property to yourselves.
